It's been almost three years since the birth of the idea of purchasing the robotic surgical system. Due to the significant price of the robotic surgical system to the Medical Faculty, a mechanism had to be found to unite the efforts of several institutions - the Medical Faculty at the Medical University- Sofia, the Ministry of Health and the University Hospital "Maichin Dom”. With the purchase of the Da Vinci robot, we are introducing highly innovative medicine into the practice of our leading University Hospitals and Surgery Departments at the Faculty of Medicine. For the MF, this is the largest single investment in equipment over the last 30 years and therefore we expect the corresponding return on education of hundreds of Bulgarian and foreign students and specialists in the surgical specialties.”
With the training of Medical Faculties lecturers working with the Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System, the faculty will be one of the leading positions in the education of students and PhD students in surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and urology, which is a significant investment in the future of the medical education in Bulgaria.
